ISO Environmental Management
Basic Concept
Realizing a sustainable society in harmony with the global environment is a pressing issue for all humanity. Companies with substantial environmental impact have a duty to actively address environmental problems. In light of this situation, we have established an environmental policy and acquired ISO 14001 certification, and we are taking steps to consider the environment in all our business activities, including R&D, manufacturing, and sales.
Environmental Policy
- We shall strive to support and contribute to environmental protection activities as a member of local communities, by improving awareness of employees through environmental education, and actively communicating with stakeholders.
- We shall abide by all laws, regulations, ordinances, and voluntary management standards relating to the environment. <Legal, regulatory, or standard violations: 0 cases>
- We shall work hard to conserve resources, save energy, reduce wastes, and prevent environmental pollution due to chemical substances, etc. This will be achieved by taking into account environmental impact in all processes of our business activities—including materials procurement, development, manufacturing, sales, distribution, waste disposal, and recycling—and by continually improving our environmental management system.
*Numerical targets are set in each area in accordance with the above environmental policy.
Environmental Management System
To promote environmentally-friendly corporate management, we are actively promoting certification according to ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management.
After our first registration in December 2004, we expanded the applicable scope and offices, and acquired certifications for all our offices in Japan.

Main Initiatives
Reducing Environmental Impact Through Our Products
We are working to reduce environmental impact through our products, and focusing effort not only on our own plants, but also on developing products that our customers can use with peace of mind.
Examples of developing environmentally-friendly products
- Development of neutral-water-developed photosensitive materials
- Development of rotary emulsions that do not use bichromate
- Development of non-VOC products
ZDHC
ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals)
ZDHC is an organization that aims to eliminate harmful substances from global value chains, particularly in the textile, apparel, and footwear industry. The ZDHC publishs a list of chemical substances that are prohibited for use in industry, known as the ZDHC MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List).
ZDHC MRSL conformance levels
The conformance levels range from 1 to 3. These levels provide a buyer of chemical products a level of confidence indicating how any given chemical product conforms to the ZDHC MRSL. The higher the conformance level, the more extensive and thorough the review of the chemical formulation and its producer. 52 products currently manufactured at our Singapore factory (Murakami Screen (Singapore) Pte Ltd) (*as of Feb. 28, 2025) have complied with the strictest safety standards as the highest ZDHC MRSL Level 3. We are will continue to be committed to eliminate harmful chemical from our products aiming for more sustainable manufacturing to safeguard the health of our employees, fulfill our duty as a supplier and protect our planet’s ecosystems.

We are working to reduce CO2 emissions from all our business activities including development, production, sales, and office work.

We are working to reduce environmental impact by properly managing wastewater and wastes at each business site.

Protection Of The Global Environment
We abide by laws, regulations, and ordinances, and work to prevent environmental accidents like leakage of hazardous materials in our development and production activities. We also place high priority on health management for our working employees, maintain a system of environmental regulations, and check the compliance situation through internal and external audits in every period.
